About BelmakDesign
BelmakDesign is an independent magazine for people who use technology to get things done and would like it to cause fewer headaches along the way. We write about the phone in your pocket, the laptop on your desk, the apps you pay for each month and the decisions that come with running a small business or managing a household budget. The tone is practical: what a thing is, how it works, what it costs in time or money, and what to check before you commit.
What you will find in the archive
The magazine grew in several directions over the years, and we have kept that breadth because our readers' lives are broad too. The main threads are:
- Everyday tech - device how-tos such as speeding up a slow laptop, iPhone care, gadgets and the way television is moving to the internet across Europe and beyond.
- Apps and software - office suites, video tools, online storage and the trade-offs of each, starting with our explainer on cloud storage.
- Business and marketing - planning, promotion, hiring creative help and picking software that earns its keep.
- Money and property - mortgages, savings, crypto risks and property markets, always written as general background rather than advice.
- Home and travel - smart homes, outdoor lighting, renovation costs and working on the move.
How we approach a subject
We start from the reader's question rather than the product. If someone wants to know whether to upgrade, we explain what changes, what stays the same and what the alternatives are. If a topic carries real financial risk, we say so in the main text and point readers towards qualified professionals instead of offering verdicts we are not in a position to give.
We do not invent statistics, quotes or case studies. Where a figure appears, it comes from a public source we can name. Where we are describing our own experience, we say that too.
Who is behind it
A small group of writers and one patient copy editor produce the magazine. We publish under pen names, keep our private lives separate from the work and hold no professional titles we would want to lean on. What we offer is time spent reading manuals, testing settings and comparing terms so that you can spend less of yours. You can read more about what motivates us on the page Our Working Principles, and about our standards in the house rules for writing.
Independence
Some older articles in the archive mention specific companies and services. Mentioning a business is not an endorsement, and readers should still compare prices and contract terms before signing up. When we update an older piece, we review those mentions and the surrounding text so that it stays fair and accurate.
Get in touch
We would much rather hear about a mistake than leave it in place. If something is unclear, outdated or wrong, or you have a question you would like answered in an article, visit our contact page. Every message is read by one of us.
