Privacy & Data

This page explains what personal data BelmakDesign processes when you read the magazine or write to us, why, and what rights you have. The short version: very little, and nothing for advertising or profiling.

Who is responsible

BelmakDesign is run by its editorial team. For any privacy question, write to team@belmakdesign.com. We aim to answer data requests within one month, as data protection law requires.

A deliberately simple website

The magazine is published as a static website: plain pages delivered to your browser, without user accounts, comment systems or a database of visitors. In particular, we do not use:

  • analytics or statistics tools that count or follow visitors;
  • advertising networks, retargeting pixels or affiliate trackers;
  • social media widgets that load code from other companies;
  • fingerprinting or any other technique to recognise you across visits.

Your cookie-banner choice

When you press a button on our cookie banner, your browser stores that choice in its local storage so the banner does not reappear on every page. This entry stays on your device, is never sent to us and contains no identifier. Deleting this site's stored data in your browser settings wipes it whenever you like. Details are on our page How We Use Cookies.

Hosting and server logs

Like every website, ours runs on servers operated by a hosting provider. When your browser requests a page, the provider's systems briefly process technical data such as your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser type. This is necessary to deliver the page and to protect the service against abuse and attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website. These logs are kept by the provider for a limited period and are not used by us to identify readers. The provider may process data in other countries; where that happens, it relies on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you include in the message. We use this only to reply and, where relevant, to correct or improve an article. The legal basis is your request and our legitimate interest in answering it. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we delete correspondence once it no longer serves a purpose, normally within a year unless a longer period is required by law. The form on our contact page simply opens your own email program; nothing is submitted to our website.

Links to other websites

Some articles link to other sites. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy policy applies, and we have no control over what it collects.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold data about you and receive a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have data deleted where there is no reason to keep it;
  • restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive data you provided in a portable format;
  • complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.

To use any of these rights, email us. We may ask for information to confirm that a request really comes from you.

Children

The magazine is written for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If the way the site works changes, for example if we ever added a new tool, we will update this page before the change takes effect. You can also read our legal terms for the conditions of using the site.
